Well, after 1 solid year of fun from my m11x, I pulled the trigger on the new alienware m14x. The thing is nearly as powerful as my tower.

Wow, that laptop is a beast. I haven't even upgraded to Win 7 yet, which is pretty ridiculous. I actually bought Just Cause 2 and didn't even realize that DirectX 10 was required. I'm planning on throwing 7 on a SSD soon and upgrading some of my components.

damn bro, welcome to the tech age :) no win7 have you been using xp still? seven is stable and tight. just mKe sure you only put your os and basic stuff on your ssd. they are not entirely reliable devices and the recovery prospects are pretty small

Heh yep, still running good old XP. I'm on 7 at work so I'm used to it and agree that it's stable. The "upgrade" process is kind of annoying.

i assume you are referring to the fact that tere is ot an easy way to go from xp to 7? i fprget what you have to do, but i may be able to help there. i can send you a copy of vista. yo actually just install, but don't register it and then immediately do the upgrade route. should work, unless they closed that one.

Yeah, thanks but I think I'm just going to set up a dual boot and move my stuff over as needed. I did this at work and it wasn't too bad - just not exactly ideal. I've actually read that Vista to 7 can be very troublesome.

Fret no more - I've upgraded my computer with a new SSD and Windows 7. Also added some more RAM. It's a huge performance difference - glad I finally made the jump.
