The Adventure Company and JoWood have announced that the retail version of "Sam and Max Season 1" has been shipped.
Fans everywhere have been eagerly awaiting this retail release, which comes with a CD full of bonus extras and a full-sized printed poster featuring artwork by Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell.
Over the last two decades, Sam & Max have gained immense popularity in a number of formats, from independent comics to a popular graphic adventure game, a Saturday morning cartoon, and most recently, Telltale Games’ downloadable episodic series, Sam & Max Season One. These episodes have now been collected into a single retail product, making Sam & Max Season One the equivalent of a television series' DVD "box set" – a first in episodic gaming. Starting next week, the game will appear in North American stores including Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, and Comp USA. A European release will follow in September, featuring full German and French localizations, as well as Italian subtitles.
“The Adventure Company/JoWooD’s release of Sam & Max Season One for Windows marks the return of a tremendously popular franchise to the retail market,” said Albert Seidl President and CEO for the JoWooD Group. “The retail release will reach a wider audience than ever and combined with Telltale’s recent announcement of Sam & Max Season Two, we anticipate the already huge fan base of Sam & Max to grow exponentially!”
The Sam & Max Season One retail release contains all six episodes from Season One and a ton of hilarious extras including:
- A full-sized printed poster featuring artwork by Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell
- An all-new Sam & Max Behind the Scenes video
